The Parkening International Guitar Competition begins on Tuesday and continues through Saturday, tickets are still available for each of the rounds of the competition, including the Young Guitarists division On Wednesday evening the monthly meeting of the Ventura County Classical Guitar Society in Camarillo, free as always, will feature Flavio Aprio, then on Sunday the young Korean star Kyuhee Park will perform at the First Congregational Church in Los Angeles

And I've been remiss in not letting everyone know that the Chapman University Guitar Quartet (consisting of Sean Atkinson, Nate Brown, Chris Horney and Brandon Miranda) won first place in the prestigious Collegiate Quartet Division of the 14th Annual Brownsville Guitar Festival and Competition held at the University of Texas, Brownsville, last month Congratulations to these wonderful musicians and to their teacher Jeff Cogan!
