Busy week starting on Wednesday when Mak Grgic performs in the world premier of a new piece for guitar and ensemble with USC's Thornton Edge Ensemble in a free concert, then on Thursday UCI's John Schneiderman plays theorbo (kind of a lute on steroids) as guest soloist with the LA Chamber Orchestra Two free events on Friday with the students in Christopher Parkening's Pepperdine classical guitar program performing in the Malibu Library in the afternoon, and Vladimir Gorbach (winner of the 2011 GFA competition) appearing that evening as soloist in Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" with the USC Chamber Orchestra Then on Saturday afternoon the New York based star Peter Fletcher offers a recital in Oxnard, and that evening the internationally reknown Rucco-James guitar duo perform on 19th century guitars in Valley Glen
