We have three chances this week to hear the Campanella Guitar Quartet in recital, on Thursday in Cerritos and on Friday in Palm Springs, both free, then again on Sunday afternoon in Temecula. And there are two guitar orchestras performing this weekend in Valley Glen, the LA Valley Guitar Orchestra on Friday (together with smaller ensembles and soloists) and the AGS Guitar Orchestra on Saturday. Our week of several end-or-year recitals begins with two free events, a Guitar Ensemble and Guitar Studio recital at Riverside City College on Tuesday and the USC Thornton Classical Guitar Program's recital on Thursday. Hopkinson Smith, arguably the world's premier lutenist, will offer a Master Class at Loyola Marymount on Friday afternoon (free to auditors), then on Saturday evening he'll perform a recital in the same venue. It continues with three free events on Wednesday, a noontime concert by the LA Youth Orchestra in Pasadena, the Ventura County Classical Guitar Society's monthly meeting in Camarillo featuring guest artist James Edwards, and a concert by Peter Curtis’ Guitar Ensemble at Riverside City College.
