This Saturday is the Guitar Circle's last Featured Artist recital of the year, come to hear the wonderful Martha Masters and reconnect with your fellow members and music lovers. We have two free events this week, Michael Nigro offers a noontime recital on Wednesday at the Pasadena Presbyterian Church and Richard Dawson appears at the Santa Monica Public Library on Saturday afternoon. That evening Eva Beneke will perform her transcription of Bach's second violin partita with vocalists (including the famous Chaconne). Our week begins with two free events, a Thursday noontime solo and ensemble concert by the LA City College guitar program and a Friday afternoon recital by Cameron O'Connor at USC, which are followed on Friday evening with the Cal State Northridge guitar program offering its own ensemble and solo concert. Busy week...on Wednesday the Levante Duo appear free at the Ventura Classical Guitar Society meeting in Camarillo, and the brilliant Eliot Fisk performs with clarinetist Richard Stoltzman in the Da Camera Society's concert series in LA. On Thursday Pepe Romero plays Rodrigo's Concerto de Aranjuez with the LA Philharmonic in Disney Hall, then again on Friday morning and on Sunday afternoon. This week's schedule begins on Wednesday with two free events, our esteemed ex-Prez Lee Zimmer offering a midday recital at Cypress College, and young Giacomo Fiore appearing in Camarillo that evening for the Ventura Classical Guitar Society. This Thursday at noon the guitarist/composer Shingo Fujii offers a free Master Class and lecture at USC as part of his month-long US visit. Then we've got a festival-mania weekend, with the 8th Annual LMU Guitar Festival at Loyola Marymount from Friday to Sunday, the NACUSA-LA Guitarathon in Culver City on Saturday and Pasadena on Sunday, and the Los Angeles International Flamenco Festival in Redondo Beach on Saturday & Sunday.
